The new Chili Peppers is fine. Maybe good. I've listened plenty by now. It could still grow more on me, maybe. But last time JF came back, Californication slapped me across the face. Easily, Otherside, and Parallel Universe just busted my brain. There's nothing like that on Unlimited Love that grabs you by the nuts.

I had high hopes, because John is older and calmer and maybe more willing to be mainstream or whatever (remember when he performed a mutiny on SNL? I think that kind of mindset is probably gone), and Flea has now been to music school and learned theory. There is nothing like those two playing together. And I'm glad we get more of it, but the album isn't as special as I was hoping. They're also damn near 60. Anyway, I kind of feel I have no right to be disappointed, but I was hoping for more. The reviews are good. Maybe I'm missing something.

It is fun to see the media rounds. And playing old jams on Howard Stern (even though he's the lamest, and I'm the only person that knows it). I'll never forgive The Good Place for hating them.
i listened to it when it dropped and fell down the RHCP rabbit hole. RHCP have to be one band that remains consistently good with every single one of their albums. can't really say that about many bands, especially ones that have been around for roughly over 30 years

I still remember being like 8 years old going through my brothers limewire, might have been Kazaa or napster at that point, and coming across Aeroplane by RHCP. I asked for a bass guitar after listening to it about 50 times in a row. Got a hand me down bass, went to like 4 lessons and gave up because I was stoopid but man did that song have some good bass slappin.

This came on today while I was in the shop. Forgot what an absolute banger this song is.

This band is apparently the hot new thing in indie rock, a genre I (used to be) well versed in. Is this a joke? Is this supposed to be good, or so bad it's good? What level are people enjoying this? Anyway, now you have to hear it too, sorry.
I wondered the same thing when I first heard it, but if it's a joke, SiriusXMU is in on it...because they play them alllllllll the time, had them on for an interview, everything. I do not get it. I think their follow-up smash is called "Wet Dream." Highly original stuff.

Here's a topic for discussion: Who is on the Mt. Rushmore of grunge rock?

I think Cobain, Cornell and Vedder are locks, but who is the 4th? Layne Staley? Scott Weiland? Other?

Discuss.

Layne over Weiland. But I would be tempted to somehow include the "godfather" of grunge himself...

Neil needs a memorial all to himself.

Layne would be my pick. I have never really thought any thing was special about Weiland.

Remember the Bloodhound Gang? I didn't want to either. If this is a joke it's a really deep one. NPR and Pitchfork and everyone had them in their best of 2021 lists with the buttered muffin song.

It's stupid music. I might go full conspiracy theory on this. How is this reality where a re imagining of Tom Green (the musician) is legit?
