If it truly is best 4 teams and not 4 power conference teams with best record, there are absolutely arguments to make.Socnorb11 wrote:It's possible, but probably not with 4 losses.
I still think it will be hard to argue with Clemson, Alabama, Washington and Ohio State.

Well yeah. Any time you're eliminating all but 4 teams, there will ALWAYS be arguments. I still feel like those 4 teams have the best resumes.

I hadn't even thought about bumping Clemson, but now that you mention it, I probably agree. With Louisville coming back to earth, Clemson doesn't really have any signature wins this year, and they have one loss to an unranked team.

Auburn and Tennessee both lose. Florida losing late to FSU.
Assuming the Gators lose to Bama in the SEC Championship, a four loss SEC team is going to the Sugar Bowl.

Arkansas had a disappointing season, no doubt, but good grief if you are a Volunteer fan you have to be sick to your stomach. Butch Jones is a walking cliche.
I am a die hard Hog fan and SEC homer, but the conference was garbage this year. How good is Bama? I suspect they are better than everyone else in college football by a fair amount, but they didn't have the toughest gauntlet.
My wife's Clemson Tigers waited until game 12 to start clicking on all 8 cylinders. I still think they have the best chance at beating Bama, but wtf do I know?

Winning at Auburn and at FSU is just about as good as anyone else.Socnorb11 wrote:AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:I would unequivocally put in the b1g champ ahead of clemson even if clemson wins the acc.

Clemson will be 12-1, if they win the ACC CG, and you really don't think they should be in the playoff? They went 14-1 last year and will be 12-1 this year. They're getting in and deservedly so.

And by the way, if you are putting Penn State in, one of their two losses was to.... wait for it.... wait for it...
Pitt. You know, the team that Clemson lost to as well.
Of course, Clemson could lose to Va Tech Saturday in Orlando and render all of this moot.
