Those of us who are not Christian are supposed to be OK with the constant in-your-faceness of Christianity - from the mega churches, to the crosses on prominent hill tops, to 'John 3:16' on every golf/football/etc. telecast, to billboards on the highway telling me I'm going to hell. This isn't even including the stranger at the door and the 'friends' who want to make sure even if I seem to be an OK person I'm going to hell and they are concerned.
This is like me telling you that you shouldn't wear your Cardinals gear in public. It's just an expression of himself. Other players tattoo their bodies with various symbols. The "NFL" puts their logo everywhere.

Obviously. This is, for the most part, a Christian nation. I definitely agree that the door-knockers are over-the-top. There will be some annoying folks in every group of people. But we're talking about Tim Tebow here. He hasn't knocked on your door, I'm fairly certain.
Joe Shlabotnik wrote: And then the absurdity of being accused of attempts at repression when such in-your-faceness is brought up. Total hypocrisy.
I don't know who you're talking about here. Tim Tebow isn't bringing it up in the locker room...... his teammates will tell you so. And I haven't brought him his Christianity in this thread. I think you're a little paranoid.[/quote]

No offense, but I don't think you're that good at keeping your views to yourself.

And here is the futility of bringing this stuff up. For you guys on the inside you never see it. For those who don't share your views it is EVERYWHERE. When I travel, when I watch TV, in our politics, at work, with friends, and at home when I open the door. Christianity is pushed and pushed and pushed at me.

You only have to tolerate me on an anonymous message board.

Tim Tebow chose to make himself a walking billboard for Christianity. He and his mother take out a super bowl ad to push it further. Dungy etal push him as some great NFL QB and it ain't because of his ability.

Try putting on the other shoes for awhile broncos.

And I've said as much as I care to here.

It's amusing to see an athlete point to the sky after making a good play. If two equally gifted and fervent Christian athletes compete, one is going to lose. They should point to the sky after making any play, even a bad one. Albert should thank God after every gidp.

The Broncos basically caved to public pressure and put him in at starter. If this fails, Elway absolutely has to clean house after this debacle.

I think Skip Bayless just made a mess in his underpants.

Honestly though, I'm glad they are starting him as a fan of the Raiders. Not that he is worse than Orton, because I never thought Orton was any good anyway.

Also, though I hated a lot of Al Davis draft picks lately and other odd decisions, I have to admire him a bit because he never seemed to give a flying rat's rear about what people said about him.

I haven't followed the Broncos much this year, and agree that Orton is no great QB - benching him in favor of Tebow is not as huge a story as it's being made into. But that is what sportswriters do. Broncos don't have all that much to lose by this move.

It's a big story because Tebow had slipped to at least third on the depth chart in the preseason, but the coach caved to fan pressure despite Tebow not making any progress on his mechanics or his decision making. Orton is mediocre enough that maybe Tebow can make up the difference with his legs, but the way this has played out makes it hard to read this as anything other than the most vocal fans making game decisions.

Just wondering, did that ever get officially put out by Broncos personnel or is it speculation based on his preseason performance?

Was Orton getting sacked a lot? How is the Bronco's line and running game? If it's desparate in that area - it would make sense to put Tebow in. With the Rams offense lousing it up, I wouldn't mind having a Tebow-esque character around to take the beatdown

Nobody went on the record, undestandably, but the Broncos had a lot of personnel running him down to the media all preseason.
