Forgot he was a Rockie now. Gonna have to head down to Coors and see what his proven mediocrity can do at altitude.Jocephus wrote:
Mark Reynolds continued his big spring Thursday with a solo homer and an RBI single against the Diamondbacks.
Reynolds is batting .362 with three home runs and a 1.061 OPS during Cactus League action. The expectation was that Ben Paulsen would have the edge for playing time at first base going into 2016, but Reynolds could be playing himself into a bigger role initially. Making decisions based off spring training numbers can be silly and a team like the Rockies should be going with the younger player over proven mediocrity, but it’s not like we’re used to seeing this franchise convey a clear plan.

I still wish we had him over the wasted roster space arrangement at first this year.Radbird wrote:Forgot he was a Rockie now. Gonna have to head down to Coors and see what his proven mediocrity can do at altitude.Jocephus wrote:

With the Angels, Freese wore No. 6, to honor the iconic Cardinal Stan Musial. On the Pirates, Starling Marte wears No. 6, so they gave Freese No. 7, one of the lone low numbers available on their roster. Freese insists there’s no meaning to having No. 7, though one wonders if it’s to honor the iconic Cardinal Hector Luna.
Royals optioned C Tony Cruz to Triple-A Omaha.
Cruz was beaten out for the backup catcher's job by Drew Butera, though with the amount of time that Salvador Perez serves behind the dish the backup isn't called upon very often. Cruz will serve as organizational catching depth at Triple-A.

Indians designated OF James Ramsey for assignment.
The move clears a roster spot for veteran reliever Joba Chamberlain, who was officially added to the major league bullpen on Monday afternoon. Ramsey, the 23rd overall pick in the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft, was acquired from the Cardinals in 2014 for Justin Masterson. He batted just .243/.327/.382 last season for the Indians' Triple-A affiliate.

Orioles signed RHP Eric Fornataro to a minor league contract.
The O's worked Fornataro out on Wednesday and evidently liked what they saw. The 28-year-old held a 5.54 ERA at Triple-A with the Nationals last season.
