I'm not understand these speeches. Seems like they're just saying "I'm proud to be a Republican" and then trashing Democrats.

Mike Huckabee on the other hand delivers. I'm surprised McCain didn't give him more VP consideration.

Excellent speaker and a very likable guy. I think he would have been better off with Huckabee.Michael wrote:Mike Huckabee on the other hand delivers. I'm surprised McCain didn't give him more VP consideration.

Palin's sister isn't helping her cause too much. "It was such a shock", etc.
BTW, as distasteful as it may be, Bristol's boyfriend/potentially betrothed is a hottie.

Huckabee was my first choice. We'll see how Palin does tonight. That will go along way toward me deciding whether she was a better choice than the Huck. I think both essentially accomplish the same thing - secure and motivate the base - but can she be the bulldog who can go after Biden and Obama?stlouie_lipp wrote:I thought the same thing during the primary.InvincibleCakeEater wrote:Excellent speaker and a very likable guy. That's what McCain gets to do. The party attack dogs come through and rip the dems to shreds, then McCain comes in on a white horse, champion of maverick ideas and bipartisan progress. If the Republicans want to have any hope they need to stop the attacks, and give a speech like Obama's that outlines what they are going to do to change this country for the better.
It's pretty much standard procedure for conventions.

I don't think the experience card is going to work in a change election.

I'm sort of enjoying Rudy's speech. Rabble rousing, but it's like a British parliament meeting without the other side being present.
(On the other hand, I guess both sides are going to talk up this experience angle as if they don't both have a problem.)
