It's time to replace my tent or find a rainfly that will fit. I had to throw the old one away because the ex's damn cat pissed all over it.
I used my Pur (katadyn) water purifier for the first time last weekend. Sure is easy to use.
MSR whisperlite stove since 1988 that I still use but I think I'll probably look to replace it soon. I also have one of those Coleman 2 burner campstoves that is nice for car camping.
REI +10 down sleeping bag that is really comfortable. Think I'll look into a liner.
Thermarest full length mattress pads. They are really too much for backpacking.

I need to get a lot more use out of this thing. I'd like to pick up a day pack as well.

if i never go camping again it will be too soon....i got enough of the outdoor experience in the army....the only thing that would change my mind is a motor home with a internet connection and na television dish!!!

All that being said my wife stillakes mne go occasionally....the pitfalls of marrying a country girl!

Smokey and I found a cabin on 2 acres in the Shawnee for a very reasonable price. It's pretty darned tempting. It has water and electric, but no sewer or septic. Very nice property near 3 wilderness areas. I don't think it gets much better than that, at least around here.

Some guy on a Chicago sports radio station shared a nice backpacking chili idea today but I forgot what it was.

There's a contingent offer on it, so I doubt we'll have a chance to even see it in February. There is other property down there, but this one seems ideal. The good news is we can take our time and be choosy.

GPS devices - adds to the fun? necessary safety device? distracting useless gadgetry? false sense of security? -discuss.

If you like them -then what do you use.

Here's a secret: you add your favorite meat to it. When I'm bp'ing, it's usually canned chicken or maybe landjaeger sausage
