Whitlock said he felt duped. I am not 100% sure if that's the right word. But, I certainly wish he wasn't doing this reality show. It has nothing to do with him being the first openly gay person drafted. It has everything to do with my hatred of the entire reality show genre and the connotations it conveys. Generally speaking, shallow, stupid and not really noteworthy for any real reason other than being the aforementioned adjectives.

Also, if possible, I wonder if this actually makes it harder for him to make it in the NFL. I would bet it doesn't make it easier.....

Tony Dungy says he wouldn't have drafted Michael Sam

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy said he wouldn't have drafted St. Louis Rams rookie defensive end Michael Sam.

Sam, who is the first openly gay player drafted in the NFL, came out in February before the NFL Scouting Combine.

Dungy, who is now an analyst for NBC, said he would not have selected Sam because he wouldn’t have wanted to deal with the distractions and the amount of attention the selection would get.

"I wouldn’t have taken him,’’ Dungy said, via the Tampa Tribune. “Not because I don’t believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn’t want to deal with all of it. It’s not going to be totally smooth … things will happen.’’

What a coward. "Things will happen"!!!!

He's about the only guy who's had the balls to say that he wouldn't want the distractions. You're naive if you think he's the only one who feels that way.

Only 4 players out of 54 to have won their conferences Defensive Player of the Year Award in the last 10 years have fallen below the 6th round in the draft. LOTS of teams passed on Michael Sam......... and not because of his lack of football skills.

Actually, his point is being proven today. Look at the circus surrounding his comments. You have to walk on eggshells around a guy like Sams, becaause EVERYTHING is going to be scrutinized to the N'th degree.

It's a bummer for Sam because he's just living his life. Dungy said something discriminatory and deserves to be criticized. Sam has to be the reason sports media/fans are going at it despite not instigating it.

Of course he's not the only one. Should we laud those who are stand up enough to say blacks aren't smart enough to play quarterback?
