If Mizzou sticks around without Nebraska around anymore they'll be the top dogs of the Northern Division(if they choose to do North/South divisions again). They'll have a much better chance of playing in the conference champion game every year in the Big 12 then they'll have in the SEC.

Doesn't make sense to put all the food ones in one division.

Missouri's decision to apply for membership to the Southeastern Conference is "inevitable and imminent," The New York Times reported Monday, citing an unnamed university official.

The official also anticipated Missouri would have "no problem" acquiring the necessary votes from SEC presidents to allow for the move.

A specific timeframe is yet to be set but the process of leaving the Big 12 and applying for the SEC is reportedly set to begin Thursday and Friday when the school's Board of Curators meet at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

The rumor mill actually seems to indicate that Mizzou would be going to the East, at least as long as the SEC stays at 14. Alabama has two big annual rivalries, Auburn and Tennessee, and Auburn moving over would kill off one of them.

Yeah, there's no way they split up Bama and Auburn. Also no way they split up MSU and Ole Miss. And Arkansas and LSU are the teams furthest west (before the expansion). Not really a good answer other than to 'punish' mizzou by sending them to the east. Though Slive has been very accomodating to aTm, his hand might be forced with Mizzou.

That's fine with me, I'd much rather play against the East for many reasons. Depending on how the season ends, Mizzou could be considered a favorite to win that division next year if the schedule falls right.

that's very true. It's unseen how Muschamp will do at Florida (I know he's gotten pummeled by AL and LSU and then lost to Auburn) but the first two teams are exceptionally good. But, USC is just never going to be 'that' powerhouse and with Richt at Georgia they seemed to be mired on that fringe good area. Vandy and Kentucky aren't threats and TN is so-so and, imo, sorry to TN fans, not going anywhere fast. Mizzou would be probably 2/3/4 w/ FL being 1 and USC/GA/Mizzou all vying for that 2nd spot.

Obviously in the west, well, there are a lot of good teams in the west.

Well, one of Mizzou or Auburn has to go East. I mean, how many unoriginal sets of Tigers can you have in one division? Maybe they can pick up Memphis and call it the Tiger division with Auburn, LSU and Mizzou.

Yeah I think they could split Bama and Auburn, as long as they play a locked rival game. That would add the possibility of an Auburn / Bama SEC champ game. But you'd have to relent on the Bama / Tenn game.
