He's announcing April 3rd at some event. I think I'm more torn on him than ever. We desperately need a big guard, and especially one as talented as McLemore. But the football-esque theatrics about his recruitment and the fact that he might not even be eligible make we weary. I just don't want to lose a commit for the 3rd straight year because of grades, the last thing we can afford to do is bank a 7th scholarship for 2012.JL21 wrote:Any update on McLemore?

Wasn't McLemore kicked off his team as well? That's a red flag along with the grades questions, which have been there from the start for him.
Risk/reward recruit. KU pulled their offer for him.

Same source as anyone else for this sort of thing; recruiting websites. It's not like coaches would be allowed to comment on a guy who hasn't signed yet.lukethedrifter wrote:Source?phins wrote: KU pulled their offer for him.

Coaches wouldn't officially comment, but I'm sure the reporters that cover the teams regularly would have an interest in the story. I've just assumed all along he was going to KU so it would be pretty exciting if Mizzou was still in the hunt. If he wants to play then he better sign with KU. Mizzou doesn't have the juice to get him eligible.phins wrote:Same source as anyone else for this sort of thing; recruiting websites. Re: Mizzou 2010 Hoops
It's not unusual for coaches to pull scholarship offers after a kid gets in trouble. Especially with some of the run-ins for the KU basketball team. I heard they pulled the offer after he was kicked out of Oak Hill, and after Taylor got into trouble.
Could be wrong, but this is a kid with a laundry list of problems, including grades and character questions. He comes from a pretty rough area, and a high school not known for academics before transferring.

That's for sure.cardsfansince82 wrote:. Mizzou doesn't have the juice to get him eligible.
Phins, wouldn't there be word of it somewhere on the interwebs if KU pulled their offer? I can't find anything. Not that I don't believe you because the kid has been to 3 schools in less than a year but surely someone writing about KU hoops would have heard something.

I'm not going to get worked up about some guy in Tulsa tweeting about unnamed "reports".
I think Phins might be mistaken on the scholarship thing. The most recent story on McLemore was him announcing when he is going to make his announcement. That would give the impression KU is still going after him and that story is more current than his troubles at Oak Hill.lukethedrifter wrote: Phins, wouldn't there be word of it somewhere on the interwebs if KU pulled their offer?
