So when is this damn thing over?

2 and a half more weeks. The final is on the 11th.

In this round will there be games every single day, or will we get a break?

The group games will run right into the round of 16 games(although no teams will play back-to-back days), but after that there are 2 days without games after each round. So don't worry, you won't have to cancel your 4th of July BBQ so you can watch Serbia play Denmark.

Can't imagine any other ball sport monkeying with the design.

Do you honestly, objectively think it's boring or are you just understandably set in your ways with no room to care for another sport?

The first time I really watched soccer, it was like the first time I heard The Clash. I knew it was something I loved and would love for a long time. I understand when I meet people who don't like The Clash. It's a taste and/or familiarity thing. I don't understand when people don't acknowledge their influence or objective greatness at what they did. Same with this sport.

Isn't there a pretty big difference between artistic influence/greatness than a sport?

I can understand the appeal and appreciate it's love around the world. But that doesn't make it objectively interesting or influential. Sure it's the bigges international sport. But it also has the lowest barrier to entry - you get 20 people together and all you need is a ball shaped object. Don't touch it with your hands. Boom - soccer game.

Would baseball or basketball or football still be less popular if we dropped off equipment for those sports for every soccer ball?

Who likes tennis? Generally not the working class, it's kind of an elitist sport - country club sport. Golf? Can be more middle class, because clubs and courses aren't all that expensive at the lower end. But basketball is a popular sports in cities where hoops are readily available and all you need is a ball. I think soccer is the same thing.

Also, I still haven't watched a match start to finish, I do find the constant play enticing and started seeing some of the triangle stuff. I appreciate the athleticism, but I just don't know I can enjoy the sport regularly.
