Sanford out 5-6 months with a dislocated shoulder. JayBo out at least three weeks with fractured ankle. The kids will get a shot.

Yeah, that's rough. JayBo, Sanford, and Berglund out early and not exactly small injuries.

I have no clue how the Blues played last night, but did anyone happen to catch the first game Vegas had? Pretty impressive, albeit a preseason game, but 9 goals and players w/ 3 and 2 goals is a nice showing for them.

I did not see it, but I saw the score. I still think they're a long ways off by design. They had a choice in the expansion draft to either compete for one of the wild card spots or be intentionally bad to reap draft picks. They chose the latter.

And honestly, that's probably the right pick. I don't follow minor league, or any of the other international leagues, but seeing how teams like the Oilers and Toronto picked up close to first year MVP type players straight out of the draft it's probably worth the risk trying to battle out a wild card spot. It's pretty tough to make the playoffs in the NHL these days, even w/ the increased # of slots in comparison to other sports. It's getting more and more common to see the low seeds advance over the favored team because the competition is so close top to bottom.

He's gets fair criticism, but in the end he's an above average defensive defenseman. I think it's more of an issue about the amount of $$$ he's making for the production he provides.

Bouwmeester may have been even better than Petro his first full season with the Blues, then he got hurt (which sucked because he was the NHL Iron Man before that.) JayBo's game was always built around being one of the best skaters, and the injury clearly slowed him down. He's recovered, but he's also lost a step. I hope the ankle injury (which will almost assuredly take longer than 3 weeks to recover from) doesn't hinder him any more.
