Oh yeah, I remember those onion rings. They were pretty fantastic.

While I'm doling out advice, go to Stroud's. You won't regret it.

That does look good, also looks like something my parents would love.

You get an absurd amount of good food. The best fried chicken, best gravy and best cinnamon rolls you will ever eat.

I was hugely disappointed in Arthur Bryant's. I may have just caught them on a bad day, but my brisket was chewy and the burnt ends were some of the worst bbq I've ever had.

Oklahoma Joe's is worth the hour wait in line.

And I'll let Tech N9ne speak for Gates.

I made the trek to Fozzie's today. I got the Big Bend Mafia:

italian beef, salsiccia, giardiniera & provolone on a garlic hoagie

and a side of the garlic parmesan chips. The chips were cold and a little soggy/very greasy, but also very flavorful. I'd like to try them fresh and hot.

The giardiniera in the sandwich tends to overpower everything... but that doesn't bother me too much because I like giardiniera. It's no Legend Club, but it's in the ballpark. And the place is cool, too- a small place where they make your sandwiches with love and care and salsiccia. Here's a pic of the sandwich:

And here's a pic of the sandwich with googly eyes and a tongue.

Gave Fozzies a try last night and took carry out today- if only we had GRB gang signals or a T-shirt we could spot each other. Agree with your description of the chips and the Big Bend Mafia. Pretty good. Today had the Black and BLue - steak sandwhich with blue cheese spinach and some sort of sauce. Pretty good, maybe a bit too much sauce but a solid effort.

Tried out the Macklind Deli today. Just ok. HAd their specialty - the Karls sandwhich or something like that. Same Boars Head meat as Legrands but really lacking by comparison. Not enough meat for one thing and without the bacon that rules at Legrands. And the sauces, and combos.

But they have an overkill of beer selection Make your own 6 packs with some decent beers for $10.

Same feelings here...it's a good sandwich if you're in a pinch, but the beer selection is impressive. I live near there, so it's always nice when you're looking for a specialty beer.
