I second that, my brother sent some up to MN for me. (which i believe, unlike owning weapons that can kill 20 people in 1 minute, is illegal)

Modus Hoperandi. If a little hoppy flavor in Sam Adams is good, and a lot of hoppy flavor in a typical IPA is better, then you are going to love this beer.

Only in cans.

Ommegang brewery is my favorite craft beer brewery ever. I love my Belgian beers. And for some East-Coasters, they do em great. As a total geek for Game of Thrones (not your disappointing season 2 TV show, the books, damn you all) I laughed gleefully when I saw that Ommegang was contracted for this bizarre TV spinoff thingy.

I won't ever buy any of the GoT beers unless they somehow creep into NYC pubs, but I'm happy that my favorite novel series has beers specifically crafted by my favorite brewers.

In my opinion:

1. Rare Vos. 6.6abv, sweet and crisp and maddeningly easy to drink four or five of. My favorite beer to recommend to customers.
2. Three Philosophers. Strong, spicy, and awesome.
3. Abbey Ale - we currently have it on tap as we're out of Rare Vos, and it's delightful. 8.4abv but still smooth as hell.

Agreed all the way around Mac. The only beer they offer that I really don't like was their Late Harvest. I've still got a couple bottles in my fridge that I really don't want to finish because I don't like the flavor at all. I'm not big on their BPA either, but it's doable.

Last Fall, my favorite restaurant did a special food pairing night thingy with Ommegang. They brought up one of their master brewers to explain each of the beers - we had like five different meal courses, and a corresponding different Ommegang beer for each course. We had special Ommegang chalices to drink them out of, and had Witte (appetizer), BPA, Rare Vos, Old Abbey, and Three Philosophers (dessert). After the dinner was over, everyone got to keep their chalice. Since my apartment is all of a block away from this restaurant, and because none of my other friends were really fit to drive yet, we all went back to my apartment for them to sober up before going home. They all left the chalices, so I have a pretty sweet set of four now.

What's your home address, and is your apartment on the first level of the building?

You're welcome to come upstate to Oswego, but you'll have quite a bit of snow to drive through on your way up. I drove down to Poughkeepsie Saturday afternoon in the snowstorm, and am back at work today. It's doable. We're currently sporting about 16-18" of snow, with more projected every day until pretty much April.

One of my preferred bars in town just put Old Chub scotch ale on tap. Anxious to try it tonight.
