It doesn't seem like they clean the floors, but I shop there anyway.

Yeah, it's a tad scary. I'll buy anything in a box, can, or bottle there. But I'm a bit iffy on the produce.

My issue isn't the produce. I'd like to buy meat from them since they seem to have a real butcher but I can't get over that odd smell.

BTW, fun fact. The Shop N' Save on Chippewa and S. Kingshighway has been the 2nd in sales in alcohol in the St. Louis area more than once...#1? Busch Stadium.
Really, that place is a dump.
I've seen worse
So have I, but that doesn't mean its not a dump.
I don't mind it...but then again comparing it to a West County grocery store...everything is a dump.
The Hampton Village Schnucks is nice and close enough that I would pick that place 10 out of 10 times.
That's usually where we shop. The Schnucks, that used to be open, on Delmar and Kingshighway was pretty rough.

I'm a bit scared of the meat too. Doesn't appear to be cooled very well.

They've specialized most Schnucks to their respective area- for instance, there are more Italian options at the Schnucks on Arsenal. It seems that Hampton Village is specialized for boring people. (which probably makes me one because I do my shopping there, but you get the point)

And the beer selection at that Schnucks sucks donkey wang. Probably 60 to 75% of it is A-B products or Miller products. And then they throw you some Schlafly, the major other brands (Guinness, Newcastle, Sam Adams, Corona), and that's it.
I don't need a store w/ character, I just want one with good fresh food. The times I've been (which hasn't been for awhile) they have a good selection of meats and good produce.

The beer selection would piss me off but alot of times I'll just buy my standard go to beers at a place like that. If I want something more unique I'll go somewhere other than a grocery store.

Honestly I shop at a few different places. I'll go to Walmart for boxed and frozen goods, Dierbergs for most meats and produce (and my go to beers), and Whole Foods for my unique items and specialty beers (which is maybe once a month).

I am going to go by that Internation Tap House tonight and grab a couple 6 packs of a bunch of random beers that I can't find anywhere.

Sorry, didn't mean to divert this thread!

I've had a rough week, so I think I'm going to go to Friar Tuck's to do something similar and get down to some drinkin' tonight.

I haven't had a problem with it. The produce is hit and miss, but I just don't buy stuff that looks bad.

Their beer selection is pretty good for such a small shop.

It's really good. You can order all sorts of specialty kegs there too. I go there for cold beer. I head to Randall's though if I don't need it cold right away.
