A Brad Penny always turns up.Jocephus wrote:
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports said Brad Penny is "the leading candidate for the White Sox's fifth-starter's job."
Rosenthal is certainly in the know, so it's an interesting observation. With Chris Sale sidelined for the start of the season and the club hesitant to throw prospect Carlos Rodon into the mix right off the bat, it's easy to see how Penny, who's in camp on a minor-league contract, could head north with the club. The 36-year-old has a 3.52 ERA through three Cactus League starts thus far.

Allen Craig having an OK spring:

On Tuesday, playing at Roger Dean Stadium -- where he spent so many springs with the St. Louis Cardinals --, Craig drove a double to right-center, driving in two runs and lifting his average to .278. The double was his third extra-base hit of the spring and gave him seven RBI in Grapefruit League play.

Yep. I hope he gets traded to someplace he has a chance of regular playing time. I suppose the Sawx would more easily move someone in front of him on the depth chart since I doubt anyone is willing to give up much for Craig. I think he deserves another shot at semi-regular playing time.

Re: Former Cardinals Watch
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that there's "no progress" in a possible Allen Craig trade between the Red Sox and Giants.
With the Giants expected to be without Hunter Pence (forearm) for all of April, Peter Gammons recently reported that the club inquired about the availability of Craig. However, the Red Sox didn't want to sell low and the Giants could prefer to just go with Gregor Blanco as a stopgap. Craig had a nightmare 2014, but he was hitting .275/.325/.417 across 40 plate appearances this spring coming into Tuesday's action.

Re: Former Cardinals Watch
You have to figure that if Craig looks decent in April he's getting moved.
