Told me that just prior to the gas explosion, the Laclede Gas man who was in the hole to fix the leak was ordered out because one of the four extinguishment guys (their own initial firefighting crew) didn't have his complete fire gear on.

Sounds like he would have been roached were it not for the evacuation.
