I keep going back and forth.
Right now it does seem like he was duped...but he was duped for three years. That is a long, long time to never meet your supposed girlfriend. I've never witnessed that level of gullible. He had to have at least an inkling after, say, he hadn't ever actually met her in person for two years, right?
