Have you had problems w/ them having gas? We feed our guys some food called Natural Balance & neither dog has ever had any issues. When we give them table scraps or mix some roast beef in w/ their food it can be another issue.

I had thought and heard about the drooling and gas issues, but hoped they weren't really that bad.

I didn't think about the weather thing... And exercise, I mean they can still handle a walk around a couple blocks right? And I've only heard good things about them w/ kids, which I have 2. So, that's a big plus. What about them w/ other animals (an old cat)?

They can handle a couple of blocks. But that is about it if it's warm/hot or too cold. Dogs can't regulate body temperature and they can't breathe like other dogs to get in as much oxygen.

The kids and old cat will be fine with the dog. Get a puppy and the dog will be best buddies with everyone involved.

They are definitely not the smartest dogs on earth.

Don't worry about gas or drooling. Not a big deal. The bull mastiffs are the ones that drool bad - and st. bernards. My dogs never drool. Bulldogs do have a bit more gas because they take in more air to get the oxygen they need because of how they breathe.

Oh yeah, they would be completely fine walking around the block a few times in normal weather. I've always heard they were good w/ kids as well, but as FB said its important that you introduce them to children as puppies.

My niece has an English Bulldog that is cute as hell and a very friendly dog. It would last about 1 day in my house, because it's tail curves in or some damn thing and they have to wipe it's ass. That's right, every time it [expletive] they have to wipe it's ass. For the rest of it's life. They didn't for a while and he got this infection that stunk so bad my niece said they would rather wipe it's ass every single time after it [expletive] than see/smell that.

But since I don't have to wipe that dog's ass I love it. It is so funny, so hilarious looking, such a good natured dog. Schultz.

I would strongly consider getting the dogs tail removed over ripping its ass daily.
