The Mexican Banda genre of music actually might take a little "getting used to", maybe something like our country and western maybe or the bachata genre from the Dominican. But a couple of my favorite local restaurants have jukeboxes and mostly Mexican clientel, and the more I heard it the more I appreciated it to the point where I actually now seek it out. We have a bunch of Mexican based radio stations, so it's on quite a bit up here.

Example....

The great Benny Moré. Make sure the volume is up high when you listen.

There was this video Jim posted a long time ago of a French group with both a male and female singer and a catchy bass line from, I think, an upright bass in the video. Liked it a lot and thinking of it after somewhat randomly stumbling into some French music. Jim? Anyone?

I wonder if it was a group called Paris Combo:

I have this album:

From a different album I remembered people liked this one quite a bit when I entered it in one of our contests:

This is my favorite French music that I own - very politically charged lyrics in alot of the songs.

Some other French stuff I have recommended ... hmmmm.... ok Coeur de Pirate: (ok it' Canadian technically)

I remember a video with the band playing in the street on a gloomy day. And a guy playing a double bass I'm pretty sure. Sounded most like that last one, but also with a dude singing. Pretty sure it was your post, and I think it was in a contest as well.
