Since softball was cancelled last night I ended up over at the Casino Queen for the free Birthday Buffet for the month of July thanks to a guy I know (from softball actually) who decided to use his free dinner at the last minute and didn't have anybody to go with. That buffet certainly didn't convince me to start gambling. It was bad.

They had bbq chicken that was good. The rolls and cake were decent as well as corn on the cob. And then the salad, baked beans and weird pasta were just bad. That is literally all they had. I hope they do something nicer for their high rollers (which the guy I went with is definitely not).

But in the end, it was completely free so I can't complain and I did like the chicken so I just filled myself up on chicken (one breast and two thighs) and seven rolls... and then had cake.

I used to go to Harrah's (that's how long ago) and Ameristar all the time for the buffets with a friend and those were always decent and practically gourmet compared to this. I need to try one of those again especially on crab leg night which is when we used to always go and clean the place out.

Yeah casino buffets are pretty depressing unless you're at the Bellagio or something.

The horseshoe in tunica has a pretty good buffet. Ameristar used to be okay like 15 years ago but I’ve not been in a long while. The sports bar at ameristar is a slice of heaven though for a guy that loves to have multiple TVs

Thinking about starting a thread called "rant: rant: fine dining" since the only food not discussed in fine dining is fine dining.

Don't know where else to put this, but has anyone ever tried to make creme brulee? I made some last night for the first time and the texture was pretty awesome; however, the flavor was...meh. Used eggs, sugar, cream, and a pinch of salt. Any better recipes out there?
