Re: The Beer Thread
Guy down hall went to school with a Schlafly that he says is related to the brewer. Guy is whacked he said. So his Mom, she is that crazy ass [expletive]: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllis_Schlafly
Are they the same family or just related?

The owner is the nephew of Phyllis. IIRC, the Schlafly owner is quite liberal.

While I generally agree with this sentiment, I do on occasion enjoy a hoppy beer.Fat_Bulldog wrote:I'll third this.JL21 wrote:I have nothing further to add but felt that this needed to be seen more than once in this thread.haltz wrote:And the HOPS(!) trend can kiss my ass.

Re: The Beer Thread
There's nothing wrong with hoppy, but if hops bitterness is the only thing going on (as opposed to having other flavors and aromas from the hops as well), then it really isn't representative of any style and is just a bad beer.lukethedrifter wrote:While I generally agree with this sentiment, I do on occasion enjoy a hoppy beer.Fat_Bulldog wrote:I'll third this.JL21 wrote:I have nothing further to add but felt that this needed to be seen more than once in this thread.haltz wrote:And the HOPS(!) trend can kiss my ass.

Sam Adams Boston Lager really at the upper limit of my hoppy beers. I spent months trying to acquire a taste for hoppy beers and IPA's, and finally just stopped completely. Triple Hop Nest Monster Double IPA Stout Extra Hop! Ahhh .. [expletive] you.

Tom Schlafly is a wacky and liberal guy.JL21 wrote:The owner is the nephew of Phyllis. IIRC, the Schlafly owner is quite liberal.
I remember when he was starting the whole thing. Not many people in the STL restaurant industry thought he would see it through.
Guess he proved those 'experts' wrong.
