MLB Network Radio was discussing the possibility of Moustakas to the Braves a few days ago. I don't recall who was talking, but the consensus was that Braves are planning on going hard after Donaldson next offseason, and made it sound like that's where he's going, so they wouldn't have interest in Moustakas.

Lots of other leagues in other sports survive with much crummier competitive situations than we have in the MLB.

I guess what the MLB should be worried about is just how openly crappy some teams are. On the other hand, I guess the transparency is kind of nice.

What should happen is the addition of a salary floor, but that'll never ever ever pass.

It's a bad product. Middling teams, like last year's Cardinals, are terrible to watch but are propped up by tanking. I know because I watched them. Can't field. Can't run the bases. Other leagues may have crummier situations. They don't play 2,400 games.

Rays are pulling up short to rebuilding, per their GM. Says Zona was just too heavy on Souza as a backup to losing JD to pass up their offer. Not trading Archer, Colome, or Kier...

MLB needs a hard salary cap like the NFL has. Then the top talent will be more spread out. The current system incentivizes tanking for smaller market teams.

I don't think a hard cap would disincentivize tanking.
