Forgive me if I don't find that funny. I spent time with a staunchly conservative family last week and I was pretty shocked when their 2, 4, and 6 yr. olds asked why their parents didn't like Obama and they explained it was because he's a baby killer.
I think I would have told the 2, 4, and 6 yr olds that Mommy and Daddy are insane.
Insane - in your opinion. While I don't agree that you should necessarily come across that strong to children that young, they are talking to their own kids and apparently those are their beliefs. We are all products of how we were raised and in a large part the morals, ethics, and values of our parents and how they instilled them in us. Obviously, as we grow up we mold those beliefs with our own and form ourselves. Because their views differ from yours doesn't make them any more insane than your views make you. We all have to accept the differences in each other. I can totally disagree with the views of 99% of the people posting here, at least as far as abortion goes, and still enjoy reading what your saying. Not one of my friends feels the same way I do on this subject, but that hasn't made me change my mind. I can't change who I am just because it is not the popular opinion. And I can accept that my friends, both in the real world and on here, feel differently than I do.

I've been that young, single girl sitting on an exam table hearing a doctor say Your Pregnant, and literally hearing my world come crashing down around me, or so I thought at the time. I don't think we want to get into a big abortion debate, but let's not call people names just because their beliefs differ from your own. Just sayin........
I don't think he was saying that he's intolerant of anyone with an opposing view of his. I think he's saying it's pretty shameful for parents to frame Obama's belief that abortion should not be illegal as "baby killing". Especially to kids.
So what would be appropriate for a parent to teach their kids? Are you or some political party, going to put out a list of what is ok for parents to teach? Kids learn from their parents, if the parents are that much against abortion, trust me the kids know.

The terminology is innapropriate (baby killer).

Her support for only abstinence-until-marriage education is well documented.

Since self-righteousness seems to be running amok, I'll suggest teaching kids to be respectful and tolerant of other's ideas. Teaching them that there are often at least two sides to every story/issue and that it isn't admirable for a 2, 4 or 6 year old to be so strongly opinionated and come across as though they already know everything.

I think that Obama's idea of what we should teach our children seems appropriate for everyone. Far more appropriate than teaching them that "I don't like that guy because he's a baby-killer":
Barrack Obama wrote:We may not agree on abortion, but surely we can agree on reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies in this country. The reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than for those plagued by gang-violence in Cleveland, but don't tell me we can't uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals. I know there are differences on same-sex marriage, but surely we can agree that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters deserve to visit the person they love in the hospital and to live lives free of discrimination. Passions fly on immigration, but I don't know anyone who benefits when a mother is separated from her infant child or an employer undercuts American wages by hiring illegal workers. This too is part of America's promise - the promise of a democracy where we can find the strength and grace to bridge divides and unite in common effort.

YES WE CAN!

Yeah, abortion is not the act of "killing a baby." That conjures up the image of actually killing a baby and people that say that are flat out sick.

I don't know why all this abortion debate is going on anyways. Back in the double-digit pages, I said that Roe v. Wade is not going anywhere. It's been in place for 35 years and Republicans have been in control for all but 12 of them.

And again, most people do not actually SUPPORT abortion. They support the CHOICE.

Out of curiosity, do you also believe that birth control is a form of baby-killing?
No. The egg has not been fertilized yet, but one it is, I believe it is life. That is my belief, I am not saying it has to be your belief, I am not asking you to change yours, don't ask me to change mine.
