1 year at 1.7 would be amazing. No way that isn't matched. Someone will at least give him another $2m/y deal.

It's too bad #5 is retired.

The Maroon move is great, but I hope there isn't an agreement to extend him for much term at a much higher cap hit. I think he adds a nice net front presence, but I'd rather a spot be open for Thomas to play full time in the top 9 to start the season. The Blues have the depth to give him that currently, but I can't see Maroon playing on the 4th line (and he really is good enough to not have to). If this is a one year deal with a wait and see how he plays/meshes with the team then I'm happy, but if he signed this with the contingency that he's guaranteed something like a 3+ year, $3ish mil AAV extension then I'm less of a fan.

If this is really the whole deal without the gentleman's agreement rumor floated around, its an amazing deal. The 1 year alone makes it worth it. If he doesn't have chemistry or the kids are too good, then he can be moved at the deadline or just let him walk.

I think the Blues are a solid team that should be tough to play against. I worry that the Bozak and Perron deals will make it tough for us to keep Schenn and Fabbri in the future, but right now we look like a deep team. Time will tell.

Super sweet interview with Maroon after a game where he scored in stl. Reporter shows Maroon the footage of his son cheering after the goal and Maroon gets choked up. Skip ahead to 50 seconds to get to the tears. Reporter had a really kind and sensitive response to Maroon's emotion too. I don't care if it makes me lame, that choked me up a little. Its a very nice moment and makes me pull for the guy.

So what do yall think the lines look like now with Maroon on board?

Rutherford took a shot and guessed:

Maroon-O'Reilly-Tarasenko
Schwartz-Schenn-Perron
Fabbri-Bozak-Steen
Soshnikov (or Barbashev)-Thomas- Jaskin (or Thorburn)

Maroon on the first line probably isn't what people want to see, but it's worth a shot. Regardless, I think the mix and matching that will inevitably happen this season is going to be better than last year when only one line could score.

Also, I enjoyed this read from John Fleming comparing the Blues and Cardinals:
