Also, Petree and Voit have already signed and are assigned to SS rookie ball.

Rivera is signed, but no report yet on how much money it took. Per BA, Cards are about 136k over their pool amount right now, but that doesn't have figures for Rivera (I would guess over slot), Andrew Pierce or Nick Petree (both under, my guess). Mike Mayers has yet to sign but I'm sure he will (probably a bit under slot), and Mason Katz will after the CWS (for under.)haltz wrote:That song is always in my head anyway. The Third Man wrote:I'm not gonna be able to tune this song out of my head when Kaminsky pitches.
I really hope the Cards are able to sign Rivera, and especially Collymore. Anyone know what the other generic slot values are? I'm curious about the remaining $1.8M, if that could possibly do the trick.

We are only 32k over for our pool. Should save that w/out an issue with Katz. We can go 300k over without losing a pickMinorLeagueGuy wrote:Collymore signs for $275k. Slot was $135k..

So did the Cardinals draft any high upside talent?

Upside as in if every tool actualizes they become a 7 WAR type player? Probably not.Magneto2.0 wrote:So did the Cardinals draft any high upside talent?
Upside as in the odds of them reaching their potential based on present and future tool sets? Yes, quite a few honestly.

Yeah, I meant the former. Someone that has superstar potential. So I guess it was kind of a "Could be a solid major leaguer if all things pan out" draft for them.phins wrote:Upside as in if every tool actualizes they become a 7 WAR type player? Just kind of connecting some dots here....
Wasn't this draft supposedly down on high upside players? From what I had heard/read/understood, which is very little, this wasn't a draft that was full of high upside, sky is the limit type players...the opposite of 2009 from what I understand.

Pretty much. I feel confident that the Cardinals got major league players, so I'm pretty happy about that. From there, I'd rather just see what happens. Wacha and Lynn were both guys who weren't seen as high upside, yet they've both outperformed their expectations.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:Just kind of connecting some dots here....
