Big12 Breaking Up?

Probably been mentioned, but what would Baylor's problem be with this? They might be good this year but have been pretty much irrelevant for years.

Their problem is that aTm leaving the Big 12 puts them on a one-way ticket to the Mountain West. A hopeless fight, but I suppose they have to at least say they tried.

It's my understanding that Baylor gained entry to the Big XII over other schools by kicking and screaming the loudest and they have a lot to lose here. I heard Gregg Doyel or was it the Sporting News guys? posit that the Big XII itself might be pushing Baylor to threaten to sue.

Baylor used Texas politics to force their way into the Big 12 over TCU.

Seems like almost all of this crap is due to Texas being a really [expletive] state. We can lay this conference fiasco at least partially at heyzeus' feet.

apparently Baylor is trying to/has convinced Iowa State, Kansas, and K State to join them in the lawsuit. These are the schools most likely to be left out in the cold should the Big 12 collapse.

This is like trying to sue to stop divorce and expecting your spouse to come back and cooperate in the marriage. Sometimes things just don't work out and you can make it happen by just being stubborn.

Theanswer is a merger with the big east. Let the whiny baby Aggies lose in the sec. Tx tt TCU MIZ ku KS is ok OSU bay blend with the other 8 big east football teams. If OU and OSU go PAC- ing, You drop to 16 teams or bring in ND and one other school (Houston?). You maintain serious tv markets from NYC to Dallas. You have one stinking powerful and huge basketball conference. You only have one hour time difference and you have stability.

Talked to a friend "who knows a guy" about some of this. He said the rumor is that Oklahoma will announce that they're following aTm to the SEC within the next few months - before Nov 1st. After OU, the next teams to follow would be Oklahoma State and then Mizzou. Apparently there's been some rumors about the SEC negotiating TV rights in those respective markets. He also said that Mizzou's "back-up plan" if the SEC deals falls through is the Mountain West.

I think there's a 0% chance of the Mountain West. I don't see how Missouri won't end up in a major conference.

I don't think your guy knows only because I really think this whole mess is up in the air at this point. But then, that's imo only.

What might already have seemed like confusion in the conference realignment shuffle morphed into chaos and farce Wednesday, leaving officials at two BCS conferences saying they can only guess what will happen and that there are too many tentacles for anyone to reliably foresee the outcome

to those that think Mizzou football will get beat up in the SEC, has Mizzou ever lost a game to an SEC opponent? Don't they have a great record against SEC teams?
