2 via FA or trade and rolling with Mikolas, Matz, and a liberatore/hudson/graceffo/mcgreevy for the 5th spot

I... do not like being sellers. Really not very fun seeing a bunch of key Cardinal players the last few years be traded away for future gambles. I agree that they all needed to be traded. Flaherty and DeJong were frustrating and Montgomery always seemed like he hated it here. Stratton was solid but replaceable. Hicks' value will probably never be higher with his inconsistency.

Mo’s job security requires aggressiveness.
Having matz as the 4 and Liberatore as the 5 will get him fired if they flop.
It won’t get him fired if he is doing what Dewitt asks of him.

Yep. They did the bare minimum of what they had to at the deadline and not an inch more.

They got a top 60 prospect back and some decent pieces for 5 expiring contracts. That's a good haul imo
