Re: Coronavirus
this is such a weird thing in 2020.
i was traveling for work through various hotspots, and i mean hotspots, right around when this thing was latching onto us hillbilly americans (~january) and i have been absolutely cruising since. So i must be goddamn superman.
And it's not even like I'm the healthiest individual in the world, at least i wasnt at the time.
Been more active for the past couple months and popping my vitamin C/zinc tabs like candy though.
I'll comply with the silly mask requirements though because i suppose its the right thing to do on 7/26 in the year of 2020.

Re: Coronavirus
Here's some new... news about what the symptoms might tell us. Seems pretty common sense, but

New study identifies 6 'clusters' of COVID-19 symptoms, could help 'predict' severe cases
A new study found that COVID-19 symptoms come in six different “clusters,” which may help predict which patients are more at risk and in need of respiratory support.
For the study, researchers used a machine learning algorithm to analyze data from more than 1,600 patients in the U.S. and the U.K. who had tested positive for COVID-19 and had regularly logged their symptoms on the Zoe health app in March and April. Researchers then tested the algorithm by using it on an additional 1,047 patients in the U.S., the U.K. and Sweden, who entered their symptoms on the app throughout May.

Re: Coronavirus
A new study published Monday in the JAMA Cardiology Journal found that 78 percent of recovered COVID-19 patients had permanent heart damage.
The study from the University Hospital Frankfurt examined the cardiovascular MRIs of 100 people who had recovered from the coronavirus. The heart images showed that almost 80 percent of recovered COVID-19 patients had structural changes to their hearts.
Sixty percent of patients had ongoing myocardial (heart muscle) inflammation even after recovery.
The majority of the patients were not hospitalized and recovered at home, with symptoms ranging from none to moderate.

Let's just shut down the entire U.S. for the month of August and see what happens....

If anyone was still unconvinced as to the effectiveness of wearing masks.

I don’t think it really matters...meaning we need another lockdown/I don’t think the masks are helping all that much.GeddyWrox wrote: ↑July 31 20, 2:22 pmIf anyone was still unconvinced as to the effectiveness of wearing masks.

Tarrant county for example, it’s been over a month since the mandatory mask in public went into effect (and yes people are wearing them) and our cases keeping reaching higher and higher/breaking records each day. Same thing goes for the death rates. In these hotspots, we need lockdowns again...yes masks probably help “some” but I don’t know how much or we’d be seeing our numbers on somewhat of a decline after a month; not continuing to break records every day.

Re: Coronavirus
Strange, because here in Travis county, new cases have dropped precipitously since the mask order. Of course it also could be the closing of bars, of which we have a ton. Without contact tracing, we’re all just guessing. I agree that a six week deal-deal shutdown is the only thing that would actually work, it politically it looks like that won’t happen, so our state’s death march continues.cardsfantx wrote: ↑July 31 20, 3:04 pmI don’t think it really matters...meaning we need another lockdown/I don’t think the masks are helping all that much.GeddyWrox wrote: ↑July 31 20, 2:22 pmIf anyone was still unconvinced as to the effectiveness of wearing masks.

Re: Coronavirus
Looks like the masks order in Tarrant County was modestly effective. Seems to have reduced transmission maybe 20%.

Re: Coronavirus
I haven't heard, but are there any states who are actually doing an effective job of contact tracing yet? Meaning they're able to target outbreaks and contain them?
