Now they are saying only 42 today, and 48 tomorrow. People still getting excited. I think the forecast sucks. You know what I think would be a good December forecast: 80 and sunny with light and variable winds. Hey, don't blame me if I won't adjust my standards to winters level. Just because a forecast doesn't suck as much as usual doesn't mean it doesn't suck.

They way I look at it, for every week like this, it's one less week of suck and one week closer to spring.

I actually do look at it like that as well. 9am every Saturday my wife and I go for a run, and lately every time we finish we kind of fist bump and make a comment how we cheated winter one more time. Mentally I just have to get February, which is when we head down to Mexico for a week. When we return, pitchers and catchers will be reporting soon and then I always feel like I can make it at that point.
Man that big yellow ball in the sky is back. What was it called again? Anyway it's still cold and there's a chance of icy tomorrow. Blah. 50 whatever days to go.
That big yellow ball is what makes me prefer Chicago winters to some other places. When I lived in Seattle, from Labor Day to Memorial Day it's gray, 50 degrees, and misting nonstop. We'd go three weeks and not see the sun. There's a gray blanket overhead. It's depressing as hell and it lasts longer than a Chicago winter. You don't need an umbrella because it's not really raining, just misting. You wear a coat and a hat. You're damp and chilly. I'd rather just bundle up in Chicago, be dry, and get some vitamin D.
I literally have not seen the sun in 3 weeks. It did not make an appearance today. Chicago is one of the bleakest places in the country in terms of sunshine we receive. We beat Seattle, that's about all you can say about it. I have several colleagues from Moscow and they tell me the winters are easier to deal with there because it's so drab here.
