Part of my mother's family farmed in southern Illinois for generations. Far enough north, mind you, to avoid being kidnapped and sold into slavery.

Hiked the Little Grand Canyon, paddled the Cache River Wetlands, ate at Toms Place in DeSoto, drank at Scratch Brewing near Ava then headed across the Mississippi to camp and hike at Hawn St Park and Pickle Springs.

Over the river and thru the tolls, to Grandmother's house we go...from my brother's in Glen Ellyn to my sister in laws in Evanston...about $6 in tolls. You would think that could cover some pensions.
