Mets are good, Cards are not. We understand that.
But the warts and issues are quite clear in four short games. Another start, another pitcher who simply can't miss bats. One K tonight from Leahy. Even if you're a contact merchant, that just won't work allowing that much contact multiple times through a lineup. The focus on getting fastballs into the org. was clearly needed when you watch a rotation full of Miles Mikolas.
On the other side, shoo-buddy. Who thought it was a good idea that Masyn Winn should be your cleanup hitter? Masyn Winn is a ninth place hitter on a good team. In no world is he a damage merchant in a lineup.
Some of the young guys do look like they could be useful major leaguers and it's encouraging to see Walker off to a good start. They just need more damage and badly need a star stick.
The hope is one magically appears in the minors this year, but I'm worried we are going to fall behind if there aren't more bats added to the pipeline.

I just tell myself that Leahy and Pallante are placeholders until the reinforcements arrive. I don’t really see the point of the Leahy experiment, but whatever.

I haven't seen much point in what the Cardinals organization has done since the odd firing of Mike Shildt all those years ago.
