Could Torres handle 3B?
I also wonder this.
His minor league #'s at 3B in Baseball Reference show a fielding % of .867.
(50 games, 375 innings, 13 errors in 98 chances)

We can fix him.

Blaze cannot play 3B at the major league level and neither can Torres.

It's "can you give us an inning" rather than "handle this for 80 games."

Just nothing there that resembles a starter at this time.

Don't know about Blaze but from what I have seen of Torres I would like to see him get a shot there.

Looks like Cardinals are at least trying Blaze at 3rd, according to Baseball Reference:
1B: 16 games
3B: 27 games
DH: 11 games

I’ve looked and can’t quite figure out the issue with Torres at 3rd. Don’t have a BA subscription to see what the rap is but he seems athletic enough that he should be able to do ok unless there’s something else. Is height considered as big a deal at third as it is at first? Is it his arm strength? Accuracy?

Hope he proves me wrong. It was time to make a move, I agree.

I guess the reports they got from Memphis satisfied them to give him a look at third.

I like having the mix of another RH bat and hope he can translate his minor league success into being a big league weapon.

I also hope Torres doesn't become the new oh we forgot he was on the roster player that never gets into the mix. I like the way he takes ABs and think with enough reps he will be a solid OBP machine.

The only question mark on the roster now is Pages. We went decades with two catchers on the active roster but for some reason we think we can't survive without three the last couple years.

Ramon Urias was moved to the 60 day IL today. His days as an active playing Cardinal may be finished.
