As for Doyle -- the Southeastern Conference’s leader in strikeouts-per-nine innings in 2025 -- he is working out at the Cardinals’ Spring Training headquarters in Jupiter, Fla., and he will soon be assigned to a Minor League club and pitch in games before the end of the 2025 season, per a team source.

jackson chourio, jesus made and luis pena are all bonus babies.dmarx114 wrote: ↑August 13 25, 11:07 amI am curious to know how much this is a factor, as opposed to their draft approach.a_smith wrote: ↑August 13 25, 9:47 amI am just jealous of the Brewers right now. They are running away with the Central this year.
They have more players than us in the top 100. Even if the rankings are crap, that is still telling.
They develop players and coach them. They are just a well run organization.
Brewers list in the top 100 for reference
5 Jesus Made- ss
16 Luis Pena-INF
53 Cooper Pratt SS
65 Jeferson Quero-c
90 Logan Henderson- RHP
For instance, I think some Cardinals have developed very well this year (Donovan, Burly, Scott Herrera). Does the organization get credit for that? And if so, should they get blamed for Walker and Gorman not developing as quickly as we would have thought.
And as far as the Brewers go, are their draft picks just regular guys, but they are molding them into big time contributors?
Or are the Brewers just drafting really well, and these guys like Isaac Collins would be succeeding in every organization?
I am inclined to believe they mostly just draft well (and we by and large haven't been drafting well over the last several years).
william contreras was somehow pulled from the braves for esteury ruiz
they take a chance on guys like andrew vaughn by trading away dead weight.
they trade closers at their peak value instead of holding onto them when they are a .500 team.
they are and have been for awhile a pitching factory. they keep churning out arms which contributes largely to their success.
they scout well and draft well.
of the guys you listed, 3 were college bats and herrera was a international signee who, i guess you could say, was a developmental win. cardinals seem to develop catchers well. its really the only thing they do well. 3 of our top 10 prospects are catchers, which is truly remarkable

Watching the present day Brewers is like what it was to watch the cardinals 15 years ago.
They traded a pitcher that wanted out of Milwaukee for a guy who was argueably the worst position player in baseball--Andrew Vaughn had -1.8 WAR in 48 games. Seriously, that is getting close to all time bad levels.
Then he goes to Milwaukee and he has been worth 1.3 WAR in 28 games.
Yeah he had talent, but everyone thought he was a bust and he was had for a guy who wanted out of Milwaukee and everyone knew that. They had no leverage in the deal. They did some devil magic on him and now is one of the top 1b men in the league.
They are eating our lunch.

He was a former 3rd overall pick so it’s worth taking a risk on especially when all yoire giving up is Aaron civale.a_smith wrote: ↑August 14 25, 5:15 pmWatching the present day Brewers is like what it was to watch the cardinals 15 years ago.

Big difference is the Brewers have 0 postseason success when they get there unlike the Cardinals from that era. They haven't even gotten out of the Wild Card series since 2021 and hven't been to an LCS since 2018.a_smith wrote: ↑August 14 25, 5:15 pmWatching the present day Brewers is like what it was to watch the cardinals 15 years ago.

good point and maybe the playoffs is where their model falls short, but I would think that one of these years they will make a deep run.Magneto2.0 wrote: ↑August 15 25, 6:38 amBig difference is the Brewers have 0 postseason success when they get there unlike the Cardinals from that era. even with that lack of a playoff run, they are still eating our lunch for a long time.
