Re: Intel building chip making factory in Ohio

Joe, my comments were related to Intel, TSMC, and AMD their production of high end silicon over the past decade and Intel's lack of ability to compete in the sub 10nm process arena and their relation to Intel building a new fab in Ohio.

Silicon >40nm is a different market entirely and has many more producers.

Semiconductor production of SMT's and SMD's are an ENTIRELY different market with everything from Texas Instruments to what are essentially mom and pop producers in China rampant with producing knockoff components from TI, Panasonic, and everything in between.

In relation to Intel's new wafer fab in Ohio this, as far as I know, has nothing to do with SMT's and SMD's. Chinese knockoff companies cannot build sub 10nm Silicon. They can, however, with less sophisticated processors, use everyone's datasheets, decap everyone's chips, and copy their designs. Maybe some parts of Intel's new fab are related to producing general semiconductors, but I was only talking about high end chips that are in the most difficult to produce and carry the highest demand. When it comes to the current supply constraints, yes, it is a huge problem when you have a simple 8pin voltage management IC delayed that keeps completed assembly on hold until the component arrives, but I don't know how this relates to Intel's new fab.
