Brunch

Well I can't eat most of what any restaurant serves, most of of the stuff just backfires on me. If there are words in it that I don't recognize my system will reject it. I have this theory that the most trouble you go to make the food taste a certain way the more violently my system will reject it. Hollandaise sauce - omg you may as well just pour it straight into the toilet and skip the middle step. Same with any thing that spreads. I don't know what that stuff is and I don't want any part of it. If you have to spread it, I'm not eating eat.

Brunch is like the worst of all of this - and they top it off with disgusting shrimp so to give your vomit some weird texture.

I can't eat 95% of the stuff they put out in a brunch because that stuff tastes bad to me and gives me the runs, so I end up paying $50 for scrambled eggs. And I hate Champagne. Carbonation gives me heart burn.

More to 33's point, I had never thought of them just throwing leftovers out there for brunch. I just, I guess naively, assumed that it was grade a stuff they were serving. There is a place in Little Rock called yayas. I [expletive] despise that place. Their food is disgusting. People love it, but I always just assumed because of their brunch it was a [expletive] hole and people were culinary dip [expletive]. Maybe it is not terrible and they're just passing off their sloppy seconds as some Grade A primo brunch...which is gross, as I mentioned. I [expletive] hate that place.

I've never been to Yaya's for brunch but I love their lunch and dinner. Seafood paella...and they used to have cioppino. Those are my two favorite entrees.

I just want a good breakfast off a breakfast menu, without the massive quantities of crapola that comes with a typical brunch. Though I do like a good breakfast beer ala Schlafly's brunch.

Story time -sort of a 1970s version of Tom and Huck etc: when I was a kid of 12, two other friends and I rode bikes across town to Sirloin Stockade, all you can eat breakfast.... kids 12 and under were 99 cents. We did it without parents. Perks of being in smaller town, big family, simpler times -kid on a bike, with a dollar or two in his pocket had complete freedom.

I just told my Mom about this recently. She laughed, but had no idea. Her being ingrained in depression-era bargain virtues was proud.

Huevos Rancheros.

I go to a Mexican place about every other Sunday morning to meet a buddy of mine, and I just order tacos. Tacos are good 24x7. They are the perfect food.

Huevos rancheros is breakfast. Some trendy bearded tattooed dbag with a cocaine habit who nobody in the public knows is a train wreck and who got fired from his last three dinner-service gigs because he's a train wreck selling it as brunch to gentrifying white folk is different. Ditto chilaquiles.

I like going out for breakfast, whether it's called brunch or not - but the stuff you describe sounds awful

I make scrambled egg enchiladas often as well.

Before I quit eating pigs I used sausage, but steak is better anyway.

Why enchiladas aren't baked, I will never understand.

Using a corn tortilla wrapped around eggs, refried (or black) beans, steak (or sausave/bacon) and peppers and covered with salsa (or "enchilada sauce") and covered in cheese and baked....oh my.

I am walking to my shift every saturday and sunday afternoon, seeing all these brunch joints on 30th ave in queens, trying not to spit on people.
