Perhaps while the parks are closed, Clint Eastwood will let tourists visit his property.

This would be a day trip, but you could head south to the Monterrey area. Cannery Row, Aquarium, 17-mile drive, etc.
Just south of Carmel is Point Lobos State Reserve (since it's not Federal maybe it'll actually be open). Like Muir Woods, it is spectacular.

An important question that you should consider before you go, however, is whether you can bring anyone's girlfriend there with you.

DON'T go to Haight-Ashbury. There is a Ben & Jerry's at the actual intersection of Haight and Ashbury.Jocephus wrote:it may not have been in yer plans to begin with but i can there is no point going to "haight/ashbury". i think its just gaps and american eagles and such anymore. what a disappointment it was when i went.
DON'T go to Fisherman's Wharf, which is a notorious tourist trap.
DO walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.
DO take that left turn after you exit the north end of the bridge and drive that road that curls around the hill, so you can stop and get that view of the bridge and the city that is always shown in pictures.
DO go to the Castro Theater, which is one of the old-fashioned ornate movie palaces.
You might also consider a cruise of the bay.

Chinatown for folks that like Chinese food that's actually Chinese. I have had beef tongue and oxtail there.
