Constant delays, canceled flights, and worst of all when we flew through there United Airlines lost our luggage on a connecting flight when going to the Virgin Islands (and lost it for 4 [expletive] days). O'Hare sucks. Typically I don't mind airports on my way too our vacation....on the way back, not NEARLY as much!
I've been in O'hare, amazingly, just as much as any other airport. And, while I've had flights delayed/cancelled/whatever, I don't think it's O'hare's fault, necessarily.
One of the best airport experiences occured, for me, in O'hare. Actually, two. The first, I had just broken up with a girl that lived there and was flying home. So, I was all sorts of ready to be by myself and drink. And, I did. I got to the airport like 5 hours early because, [expletive], lets be honest. Breaking up with a girl and then hanging out at her place isn't really cool. So...you know, there I am, just pounding Bloody Mary's and Sam Adams at 10 AM when this little smoke, all of about 5'4" 110 lbs and DD [expletive] or whatever big boobs are called, comes over and orders a vodka tonic...at like 11 AM. Now, any girl that drinks a vodka tonic is alright by me. So, we strike up a conversation and hang out. About an hour - and 4 vodka tonics later - she leaves after slipping her number over to me. I texted her immediately saying the place was boring and she should come back. Low and behold, she does, not 5 minutes later. I was like WTF. This is awesome!! Visions of her coming home with me and like 3 days of non stop sex immediately filled my mind as well as sunshine and a life of grandeur with her and it was great. But, it wasn't to be, her flight had only been delayed like 30 minutes or something so she came back for another toddie. Ha. I/she would randomly text, mostly sext, but I never saw her again. I had to tell her I was seeing someone so it would stop. She said I was the one that got away. And I haven't heard from her since. That was like 4 years ago. I wonder where life took her. Hopefully somewhere great, because after knowing her for like an hour and a half, she was awesome.
Then, another one I was headed out to Boston with a friend. And, we landed at 9 AM from Kansas City. Anyway, we did nothing but walk around and get schitty on sam adams (I don't know what it is about Sam Adams in Chicago, but it just seems to fit). For 3 hours or so, we just talked to random people whilst traipsing around O'Hare. It was great. One of the best times of my life. That might sound pathetic. But...it really wasn't. Everything just clicked, and that layover was grand. Just me and a good friend, good beer and thousands of people to hang out with.
