If your a DB and the receiver doesn't catch the ball, is there some sort of penalty for not waving your arms 'safe' like a baseball umpire? I might hate all the gesticulations a little less (and the league) if there was a little creativity in all the irritating chest pounding. Because it really seems that no play is too meaningless.

Four yard reception on first down? Receiver stands and points to the opponents end zone.
