I think Michael Kay defines asshat.

I'm adamantly opposed to the "Give it to a kid" philosophy. I started going to baseball games in 1966 and always hoped I'd get a foul ball--I never hoped some random guy in the stands would give me one. (Finally got one in 2010 at an Iowa Cubs game, and my new goal is to catch one on the fly.)

How much meaning can you attach to a ball that was handed to you by an insurance salesman from Cedar Rapids anyway?

Trying to scan and bag his stuff while talking on his cell phone trying to straighten out some problem with his home phone service. Then trying to scan a Pepsi coupon that didn't match what he had purchased. Thankfully, for me anyway, this asshat was behind me and I didn't have to wait for his sorry azz. I'm sure he didn't hear me but as I was picking up my bags I commented "Maybe you should make that call from home and not in the grocery line."
Maybe you didn't hear me when I said, "maybe you should mind your [expletive] business. Also, you smell like cats."

Then I threw a cantaloupe at you.
Sorry dude but if you're yapping away on a cell phone loud enough for everyone around to hear your conversation, and holding up the line behind you, it IS everyone else's business.

How do my bangs look? And that cantaloupe was delicious
They looked great.

Also, that cantaloupe was my Halle Berry.
Almost as funny as "Catrecil"

Ditto. If that kid wants a ball, he should have brought his glove like I did, and be willing to fight anyone in his path to get that ball.

+1,000,000

I have sat everywhere in the stadium and NEVER had a ball come anywhere near me. I thought for sure that the dozen or so times I've sat in the front row down the first base line where near the ball boy/girl sits would result in at least a chance at a ball but nope. Somehow I repel foul balls. I also thought I had a shot at a Molina home run back in 2004 or so when sitting out in left field with some friends. I swear it was coming straight for me... and then I realized that we were under the overhang just a bit too far and it hit that and went back onto the field.

The enjoyment is in catching the foul ball, not taking it home to the mantle so you can share the story about how you snagged a 2-1 foul ball from Corey Hart in the 3rd inning. Giving the ball to the kid makes their day and they'll remember getting a ball at the game. It's a win-win.

In the case of the video, the crime isn't that the crying kid didn't get a ball, but that the yuppies outfought a kid to get a ball that Mitch Moreland is underhanding to the crowd, then kept it for themselves. Dead on thread title there.

I don't think they are asshats, I think they are self absorbed oblivious idiots that probably didn't even notice the kid.
