Not quite as much involvement with SMS as you had, but I'll always remember him from his days there as well. We had season tickets to SMS games when I was growing up. I probably saw every home game he coached while at SMS. Great coach and great person.
He really was genuine. I sat next to him on a flight from Vegas to St. Louis before his last season at UNLV. I didn't want to be "that guy" on the airplane, but just said that I enjoyed his time at SLU and SMS. Scott Highmark is listed as 6'4". Couldn't dunk.
Was at a Blues game at the Arena upper reaches, and Spoonhour w/ Hrabosky was coming down stairs from the boxes (IIRC the dignitaries had to go thru a crowded gauntlet to get up/down from the boxes). I was standing at the bottom of the stairwell and recognized them -Spoon uses my shoulder instead of the handrail for the last step then stops to thank me and chats briefly.
