Re: Rave: Food Trucks
In areas of limited parking spots, I could see a justified reason on restricting what public parking a food truck could use, or to keep them from blocking out a streetside restaurant or bar. But that isn't the explanation they gave for banning them alltogether.

I don't think it's ridiculous at all. Maybe unconstitutional but not ridiculous. The business- restaurants -who have invested in some permanancy in Maplewood want that recognized.Arthur Dent wrote:Haha. That's ridiculous. The explicit justification is that they want to oppose business competition.Freed Roger wrote:this doesn't make sense. banning food trucks.
I'm not saying I'm for or against the ban, just that I get why a ban or any regulation is considered.

Typically, when businesses want to introduce regulations to prevent the entry of competitors, they have to pretend that there is some public interest justification. Sounds like they aren't even bothering with that here.

When I was a grad student in Philadelphia, I loved the food trucks lined up around the Penn campus. Very good food, diverse cuisine, good prices. I've missed that since moving away.

first question: ballpark prices?
..I dunno - oversaturation? I think the Cardinals should give this a rest and let someone else have the fun.

Just in case they haven't already squeezed every dime out of the fans, they will hunt you down to get the rest.

Favorite local food truck dish: the pork katsu bop from K-bop.

Fried pork cutlet, brown rice, veggies, rice noodles with that korean bbq sauce and that spicy sushi sauce.

Their trucks park about 50 yards from my apartment, round the back of a church. Or something very similar.
Re: the argument above, I can see the point of businesses who've paid for actual locations not being thrilled, but I'm not sure there's a ton of overlap. If I want a cheap snack from a food truck, but one isn't there, I'm not going to wander into the nearest restaurant for a full meal.
