It's funny because I was going to start a rant (not rave) about F1. They recently held the first F1 night race in Singapore and I freakin' hate it! The reason I hate it is because there is a stretch along the Singapore River where I cycle most weekends, where they built the track. And what used to be a park, green grass and trees everywhere is now just a huge stretch of asphalt. They ripped up all that greenery for a stupid race that happens once a year.... :x

If it was up to me they'd still be in Indy and Montreal and wouldn't need these places to build them magnificent new tracks and offer crazy amount of money. They want to keep adding night races out east so that they will be during the day in England to get better ratings. They even just dropped 1 of the most prominent tracks being Silverstone in England. Granted the facilities there I here are terrible and it's a very remote location that is about 2 hours from civilization, but it's still a very popular track.

Old thread bump.

Rubens Barichello is running in IndyCar this year. That's really cool.

I'm pretty excited about IRL this season. They're switching to mostly road courses this year and a lot of technical changes are under way, including the introduction of the DW12 chassis named after the late Dan Wheldon. My buddy started a few months ago as a race engineer with Dan Wheldon's last team and will probably also work in their pit crew, so I have a favorite team to pull for now (Bryan Herta Autosport).

I'll always watch the Indy 500, but it doesn't seem carry the weight it used to. I grew up with names like Foyt, Mears, Andretti, Sneva, Unser, etc. Today's drivers just don't do it for me. (Yes, I know I sound like an old guy , only because I am).

I'm a NASCAR fan like Jeff, and Hudler's right about World of Outlaws racing.
