I don't think that baseball talk would be too 'cluttered' with an occasional caption time or story about the little league.

This forum is big, but it isn't that big.

That's what they pay me to do - move threads that are misplaced. Has nothing to do with whether I like a thread or not.

So I can get what you are saying, can you give me a link that has the occasional caption time, little league story, or a thread that was moved that you think shouldn't have been?

Speaking of pay... Michael - what is going on with payroll. I haven't received a check in, well, ever.

If you are going to move fun / sarcastic baseball threads (only some of the time for certain posters, mind you), you will need to create a seperate forum for numbers only / and baseball fans that feel like they can only post in social, because their opinion isn't important.

jim, the threads I am thinking of were well over a month ago. One was mine, and it was about some ump or something in a kid's game. The same day, another was moved also. I waited awhile to make sure I wasn't being a hothead about it.

My thing is, I don't know exactly what relationship with baseball a post has to have to qualify for baseball talk. Does it have to be major league? Cards related?

I find myself asking, 'hmm...post this in baseball or social?'. I guess if you are going to move things, that's fine, but at least let me or someone else why something isn't baseball related. I mean, the subheading itself says 'a place to discuss our national pastime'.

I have the same problem sometimes, I started a thread on the length of games and I wasn't sure if it was baseball or rants. So I understand that.

All we are trying to do are remove threads like "Cubs Suck" followed by "Hell yeah" followed by "Cards are so cool" to social. It's fine to have threads like that, but they really aren't baseball related. Some are obviously much more of a gray area, and I'm sure we make mistakes.

First off, I'm glad you created this thread Leroy. I sense a growing rift on the board and it concerns me.

I see 2 topics here:

1) Thread categorization

GRB was created to have serious baseball discussions in a friendly manner. That’s not to say BT should be a somber place but on the other hand it should be the most mature forum. The mods and I are always trying to balance competing needs, we have a lot posters want to discuss baseball and aren't looking for what I lovingly call "the social silly". Therefore things like onion articles, Cub hate threads and silly poster identities are better suited for social or rants. When we move a thread to social we're not saying "we hate this", rather this is more appropriate for another forum. There are plenty of enjoyable threads I’ve moved to social.



2) The use of stats

Baseball is a game full of stats so I’m not sure how we could implement a non stat forum. Would that forum use RBIs and HRs? Personally I enjoy the saber stuff but scout posts are my favorite because it’s an area I know almost nothing about. I think the best approach is to keep an open mind to every method.

Even though I started this talking about the stat posts, I was in no way complaining. I don't really get them, but I don't worry about it.

And the threads I was talking about weren't cubs bashing or onion articles (though if they have to do with baseball, I don't see a problem).

I know you weren't complaining and I'm glad you cared enough to post it. I think discussing the direction of the forum is a good thing.
