One thing that I think needs to be brought up here is that its a comedy show purely for your entertainment. They really don't mean a majority of the things that they say. They are playing characters! This isn't normal radio, it's a paid subscription. I pay for the privilige to hear vulgarity.

XM is a business and they has the right to suspend their employees. This isn't a free speech issue.
Yea but it has allowed 100 times worse material to air in the past. Trust me on this one. Why does it matter now? It's not a political show or anything, it's a comedy show. They are playing a role, not debating the ongoings of the world.

How is XM any different then HBO? It isn't! XM just went against everything it stands for, PERIOD!

XM is a business that is about to lose alot of business.

Perhaps they had been warned about their behavior several times in the past. Just because it's a comedy show and they are playing characters doesn't mean their jokes weren't in poor taste.

Making money is everything XM stands for and they determined enough was enough. If you feel strongly about their postion punish them with your pocket book and cancel your subscription.

Well, I never understand why guys like this are hired, and then fired for doing what they were essentially hired for. Imus is probably going to get a lot of money sing CBS, because his contract actually states that controversy is what they wanted from him.

Having said that, these are the same guys who paid people to have sex in a church and put it on the air. It's debated whether or not it actually happened, but they acted as if it did. It's hard for me to talk because I like parts of Howard Stern's show, but I've always felt that he was smart and these guys just seem like overgrown kids.

My second cousins grandfather's sister's second-to-last words were "how dare you", you cold-hearted bastard.

omaha should be banned for being insensitive enough to use that phrase.

++

XM wants to have their cake and eat it too. They want the ratings the shock jocks get, but not have to deal with the controversy they stir up.

As was noted in the article, this was probably just an attempt to try and keep things under control during the merger. Gutless, but whatever. They'll be back, and so will Imus.

Trust me Michael. XM is already being punished. Lots of Opie and Anthony fans have already canceled. They are the biggest draw on XM. I'm considering getting rid of XM, but I really like the baseball and hockey as well.

If this same thing was said a week before the Don Imus thing, nothing would have happened. It all goes back to that.

I never get why people get so easily offended. They are just jokes. They are not saying this with anger in their voice. I don't see how they were in poor taste.

The sex in a church did happen. They were caught by a cop and some church goers. O and A admitted they made a stupid mistake and have been forgiven for it by the Catholic league.

As far as Howard Stern, he is in the same league as Opie and Anthony. They both do the same things. Neither is smarter then the other.

joking about a woman getting raped? Good for XM. Fire them. I hope Condoleeza sends some Secret Service goons to scare the bejeezus out of them. And cause a little non-lethal pain and suffering. I hear a pillowcase full of oranges can inflict a lot of pain without leaving a lot of evidence.

Freedom of speech? Sure. Freedom to say something so stupid that you get fired for it without getting bleeped. That's ultimate freedom of speech.
