Cusamano thinks Majerus could be the new coach at SLU as soon as tomorrow. If this goes down it will be an overwelming success for SLU basketball and I predict we will have the best program in Missouri and Illinois within two years. I'm pumped. :cowbell:

It might happen, but not in only two years.

Moving above Missouri, Missouri State, Illinois, SIU and Bradley isn't going to be easy.

I think it could happen in two years. Its not like the program is in shambles. We won 20 last year. Lisch and Liddell will only get better. Majerus will certainly recruit better than Soderberg. I like our chances.

If Majerus signs with SLU, then this deal was done long before Soderberg was ousted. It also makes sense on the timing of the ousting...even though it was pretty low.

Majerus would be huge and would definitely usher in a better-than-Spoonball era at SLU.

This goes without saying.

I hope Scott Suggs is as excited as I am.

Come on, Scottie. Come to SLU. Come with Papa Majerus.

I think Suggs is more excited that Donovan didn't go to UK.

Probably so. My heart will break if a kid from freaking Washington skips out on the state schools and goes to Florida.

I mean, if SLU were to get Suggs, we're looking at a guy who makes SLU a good bet to contend in the A-10, and I'm thinking they make noise in the tourney.

There's just no reason to let a kid who lives ~35 miles from your school to get away to Florida. Soderberg's recruiting just didn't make sense. He would take guys like Luke Meyer (a stud at Borgia, but not as good as his teammates Sky Frazier and Alex Moosman) Adam Knollmeyer and Dustin Maguire. They were all humongous reaches, ESPECIALLY Knollmeyer, who should have gone somewhere like Warrensburg.

It's my hope that Majerus is able to pull a rabbit out of his hat and deliver Suggs, Griffey and Soderberg, although I can't forsee it happening.

McCluer North won the Class 5 state championship and were led by a kid named Torres Roundtree, who scored 38 points and had 12 rebounds. Where was Soderberg? Probably off scouting other 6'9" kids playing Class 2, because Roundtree is going to Carbondale. Where was he when Jamaal Tatum was scoring like a machine for Helias? He was signing Meyer!

This is an incredibly long and boring post to anyone who is in the dark about SLU recruiting, but I just get so frustrated when I think back on the ineptitude of Soderberg sometimes.

They don't have a salary cap in college basketball.

I was going to comment on that quote, too. I really don't think SLU can compete with the defending national champions.

It's kinda like when Tyler Hansbrough chose UNC over MU. It shouldn't have even been as close as he made the decision.
