I'm actually disappointed they didn't get around to fixing the ventilation system for the vendors. I almost always sit in the bleachers, and at night games its especially the worst, after the 4th inning or so. They release all the smoke right over the infield. It's like watching the game through a giant gray cloud.

What do you mean by releasing the smoke over the infield? I've yet to sit in the blechers at Busch III.

I'm suprised so many people do not even know about this issue, its not something subjective. I've been to probably 20+ games at the new stadium. I'm fortunate to be a freshmen student at Saint Louis University. I've attended last years opening day, the minor league game prior and Seat Cushin night (which was probably my favorite of the year). Many games inbetween, and about the last 9 regular season games (hehe my friends and I sat front row dead center red seats right behind homeplate for the last 3 innings of the last game Marquis pitched since everyone had left) and then every playoff game. So It's not like I don't know what I'm talking about.
I've sat in the all the tiers down the first base line, and during day games is not really noticeable. But at night, I remember one time when I was in the 3rd level, and I could just smell the smoke billow out from the vents onto the infield, it was awful.
I have clear pictures where you can see the smoke, but I think this video I took of Game 4 will show it enough. I'm not allowed to post URLs yet so go to you tube and after the com put in:

Look into the stands, you might think thats caused from the lights. Yes it is, but its the light reflective off the TONS of smoke thats filling the stadium. Thats not from Fireworks, its from concessions. It's a serious problem that plagues the stadium. Sit in the outfield sometime and you will notice, or just look to another corner of the stadium and you'll notice things aren't red, but they're grayish red and the sky isn't black.

Hey I'm in that video! I was sitting a little behind you and to your left. Thanks for posting, that brought back some memories.AdmiralKird wrote: I have clear pictures where you can see the smoke, but I think this video I took of Game 4 will show it enough. I've noticed the smoke too, it can definitely make it hard to see clearly during night games. Have you tried to contact anyone to complain about it? I'm not really a proactive kind of guy when it comes to this sort of thing. I guess I just assumed that if it could be solved with something simple like better (or any) ventilation they would have already done it. If so, let me know who you talked to and I'll put in a complaint too.

It's mostly steam/exhaust from the Hardee's stand up on that top level. Problem is, there's a predominant wind that cuts right down Spruce Street over the Hardees stand, and it carries right over the seating area up by the lights. The usual StL humidity just traps it in the air too.
I'm not sure there's a whole lot they can do about it outside of swapping out that Hardees stand with a retail shop somewhere else, or really altering the exhaust system. I guess we'll see if they've made any changes in that regard during the offseason. If not, I'm sure they'll hear some more about it.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I've actually been lurking around here off and on since August.Popeye_Card wrote:

Onto the smoke, I'm also anxious to see if its fixed at all. If not I plan on writing a letter and if I'm not satisfied with their response I'm calling the EPA. I know smoking is banned in Busch except certain designated areas. I'm not sure what the law is in STL involving smoking in non-smoking sections, but Cardinals Management is in for a wake-up call if they get a Personal Injury Lawyer sitting down the first baseball line that takes notice...

I didn't even think about it but my LaRussa Plan is in sect 441, I think I may be a direct hit in the smoke cloud. Nothing like going home smelling like a giant grilled hot dog/brat.AdmiralKird wrote:Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
