Plots on U.S. soil have been averted since 2001. That much is known. Is it W's credit? Not solely. Would a Dem pres. been able to achieve that as well? Possibly.

But I'll take my chances with a Republican in charge. Then again, that goes for every issue.

We're just spinning wheels here, though. You won't change. I won't change. And nothing nobody says will make us change. Same goes for many others. Some just like arguing.

I've got more important things to do mostly. I've wasted too much time here. I don't enjoy it. In fact, I hate it actually. I despise the entire political process. Some of it much more than others.
I think you have suggested it.

Also, I don't like being lumped into the those that "won't change" category. The majority of my beliefs lie on the conservative side and they've been pretty well documented on this site. I have, however, come to recognize the benefit of some of the more liberal social stances over the years. That, and I've come to believe that the strength of our economy is not always the absolutely most important thing to consider. I've never voted for a Democrat before but I will this year and it's based solely on Obama. I couldn't have possibly voted for Hillary. I've admitted for over a year now that my vote is going for who I feel is the best person for the job, with little or no respect to the issues. I'm sure there's a name for that kind of voter but I feel very comfortable backing him.
My apologies for lumping you specifically into that. It's just how most of us on here are. We know where we're going to lean 99%+ of the time, and we're only here to argue our stances. It's pretty worthless.

Just like the conventions were.

For the record, this will be my first time voting for a Democratic president, and I was pretty anti-Obama as recently as 6 months ago.

I swear to God, it's a motto of the Republican party.

GOP: [expletive] goes wrong, blame everyone else.

That's all the Convention was about. That's what 9/11 was about. That's what everything is about. It's Congress' fault. It's Clinton's fault. It's Carter's fault. It's everyone's fault but theirs.

And for the record, I resent being told that I'm on a high horse when I'm not the one who supports a candidate who trivializes community service, uses 9/11 to scare the piss out of people or thinks it's okay to tell a woman "No, you can't do that with your body."

Sorry if this offends anyone, but it's absolutely stupid some of the rationale used to excuse every single thing the GOP does. Who has been in control for 8 years? And what has happened? The economy is in the toilet, we're at war, the rest of the world considers us to be a joke, the mortgages companies are collapsing, our infrastructure is 3rd-world-rate in some places, oil is at an ungodly price, food prices are ungodly as well. But no. Blame Clinton. Blame anyone else you can to make sure it doesn't fall back on the GOP.

2,974 dead on 9/11. Clinton's fault. Not Bush ignorance to intelligence reports.

4,468 coalition forces dead in Iraq. Clinton's fault, Iraq's fault, Intelligence mishap. Not Bush ignorance or power hungry ambitions.

I'm tired of this crap. I'm tired of Democrats being made out to be the "big, bad, horrible elitist high horse riding bunch" when for 6 straight years, when everything was under Republican control, the economy among everything else in this country was turned to [expletive] and then when the Democrats control Congress for 2 years, everyone points a finger and says "BAD GUYS! THEY DID IT! BLAME THEM!"

Democrats aren't without their problems, atrocities and faults. The GOP sure as hell isn't. But I wish one certain party would start saying "Hey, look, we [expletive] up" and take responsibility for the crap they've put the American people through for 8 straight years.

The first time I could ever vote I voted for a Dem.

It will be the last time, too.

No offense, but that seems like a pretty close-minded attitude.

Clinton not only didn't stop Osama, he helped him gain popularity among those that follow him.

He declared war on America in 1998. Who was in charge then? It was obvious he was coming after us. It had been for years prior to that.

After that, Clinton knew where he was and could have killed him. He blew it.

Both Bush presidents deserve their share of blame, too. But the large majority of blame, from me, is on Bill's head.

He had other things on his mind.
Bush 41 did the same thing with Hussein.

Bush 43 has had his share of problems but he also adopted some serious issues from his Dad and from Clinton.

I agree with that. I don't think GW did a very good job, but I also think he inherited some issues that were smoldering for a long time before bursting into an inferno on his watch.

I don't think either party is worthy of taking my vote for granted. Certainly not for the rest of my life.

This is the exact reason why I despise politics and talking politics. Shouting about things until we're blue in the face doesn't change anything except stress ourselves out and create enmity.

And until there's a relevant third party in America, this game of "blame the other" and yellow journalism that the parties' play will continue. And will get worse.
