Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain: The Thread
I wonder if this might throw Biden a bit of a curveball, as far as debates go. This isn't some guy he knows and not someone who talks the way beltway people are accustomed to talking. He would have been prepared for that. He's a Senator, she's a governor of a remote state.
She overtook a sitting governor in her own party, so she must have some substance.
Whatever happens, I bet you see more of her down the road after this is all done with. She seems to be well-liked from what' I'm reading elsewhere.
(god, i just realized I'm going to have to hear my Mother gush over her for the next few months)

I don't know enough about Palin yet, but I'm guessing she's probably more conservative than McCain. So this wouldn't be simply about trying to steal votes from the other side. It's not as if strong conservatives are exactly thrilled with the choice of McCain. One of my buddies has a bumper sticker that reads: I love my country more than I love John McCain.

An interesting point, though my first hunch is that Biden didn't get to where he is by being thrown for a loop by such things. Either way, it'll be fun to see it play out.ghostrunner wrote:I wonder if this might throw Biden a bit of a curveball, as far as debates go. I feel like I'm talking about hitter-pitcher matchups.

And she didn't just overtake him, did she? Didn't he get just 17% of the vote?ghostrunner wrote:I wonder if this might throw Biden a bit of a curveball, as far as debates go. Which is why I made the argument that this move was one of desperation, as compared to a more traditional pick that you'd expect from him. Did he even make the pick himself?BW23 wrote: It's not as if strong conservatives are exactly thrilled with the choice of McCain. I just wish Biden would get rid of his Shatner 2000 turbo and just go bald, he aint foolin anyone. If his choice in hair pieces is any indication of his judgement, I don't know if I could vote for him....

Pretty representative story about her. Her stance on clean water: She's against it.BW23 wrote:I don't know enough about Palin yet, but I'm guessing she's probably more conservative than McCain. It's akin to saying Obama is "for" partial birth abortion, because he voted against an amendment somewhere.

She's against something called the "Clean Water" initiative. There might be all sorts of reasons to be against it. I don't know the details, but you can't just say "oh, she's against clean water."jim wrote:Pretty representative story about her.
