But I have a real problem with anyone who wants to minimize the seriousness, make excuses, or rationalize it. As far as I am concerned, it's fine to say "I don't pay attention to news about the private lives of celebrities and sports figures, it does not change my enjoyment of the movie, song, or game." But it is not fine to say "I do pay attention, I do make decisions based on off-field stuff like this, and this is not a problem for me." Yikes.
Yes, what he said.

. . . and I am glad we have so many people here who condone driving while intoxicated, and think everyone should do it. Which is just as close to what you're saying, as the quote above is to what I am saying.

Stupid is as stupid does, and in my view he's no less stupid than Leonard Little, whose actions resulted in far worse consequences.
I'm with you to a point, but I think you've pushed over the top. Leonard Little got tanked at a birthday party, drove recklessly, running a red light and killing a woman. He blew more than twice what TLR did.

Then, after getting a second chance he didn't deserve, one would think he would give up drinking since it led to such disasterous consequences. Or at the very least, use his considerable wealth to procur a ride whenever drinking. No, he gets tapped with DUI again.

That is not just poor judgement, that is horrendous judgement and a total disregard for the well being of others.

I can't possible lump TLR in with Leonard Little.

Fox is reporting that Tony was watching Sanjaya on his car TV when he passed out.

Seriously though, no excuses. I think it's important to wait and see what the details are before convicting him, but if he passed out at the wheel, at a stoplight, and this was caused by drinking (and not by some unknown other medical condition or other cause), then this was not small beans. That is very dangerous, to himself and others.

He will take a hit for this, as he should. But he's not the first citizen to do something stupid, and he won't be the last. I have faith that he will overcome this, both personally and professionally. I wish him the best and support him.

What TLR did was wrong, and he will be punished for it. People going on and on and on about how this shows poor judgement and he should be fired is another thing. People get on here are all high and mighty as if they are model citizens and blast a man for making an error in judgement, hell, he makes them every game, he is human, like most of us are. If he gets arrested again for this, then it is a problem.

Dude, if he was singing the Kinks, I would have rammed my car into the nearest telephone pole... Intentionally

skmsw wrote: Whatever he did, in whatever combination, was enough to result in him sitting in a running vehicle in the middle of the street. The ESPN report says that the .093 came in the station, which was extremely likely to be at least 90 minutes after his last drink. So it is not the 0.093 that "made" him pass out in the middle of the street in a running vehicle; it was obviously much higher. If he blew .093 in the station, he was likely to have been at least 106 when they found him, and at least 110 when he got behind the wheel. At least.
You don't really know what made him pass out. Like I said before - he's a 60+ year old workaholic who by his own accounts doesn't always get much sleep. I'm not saying he's not responsible for that situation, and he should realize that he's tired. But the numbers you're throwing around there there are speculative. It wasn't "obviously" much higher, as has been shown by some of the other posts here. And the cell phone point is a valid one - it's something I've thought should be illegal for a while now.

His blood level was okay ten years ago. It's not now. He should have been more careful, but it's a first offense and he'll probably learn his lesson. What's the problem?
