Savannah Bananas and other tomfoolery

yeah, it's strictly entertainment...if you're expecting to see a serious MLB game, you will be disappointed.

if you're just looking at as a form of entertainment, it is awesome and they clearly know what they're doing; plus these guys are all former college and MiLB players so they are good also

my personal favorite are the walks; when you walk a batter the batter can keep sprinting/running until all the players in the field have touched the ball (that's why you see after a walk, all the fielders will sprint towards the middle to make the throws shorter)

and of course the foul balls. when a fan catches a foul ball, it is an out, so you'll her the entire stadium cheer or boo you (depending on what team they're rooting for; obv most are rooting for the bananas as they are the original)

plus there's a time limit. us hardcore fans may want to watch a fantastic game that goes 14 innings and last 4+ hours, but most people don't; esp with small kids. knowing there's a 2 hour time limit, and know a general time you'll leave can help people who are not into baseball.

I cannot get my family to watch a baseball game (on TV or in person) as it's "too boring" and "not enough action", which I would agree with if I was not such a fan/grew up playing and watching it; esp compared with the other sports of football, hockey and basketball. but they'll all stop to watch a bit and laugh when a banana game is on.

The Savannah Bananas sold out both their games at Busch Stadium. Which means that more people came to see Waino, Lance Lynn, and Izzy play for the Bananas than ever came to see them play for the Cardinals. This is a black eye for the Cardinals. The Bananas may be an entertainment act rather than a real baseball team, but their fans know that the front office and management are doing their level best to put a great product on the field.

Banana Ball's newest team is paying tribute to Indianapolis' baseball history.

The Indianapolis Clowns were announced Thursday, Oct. 9 as one of two new teams to participate in the Banana Ball World Tour, the viral phenomenon launched by the Savannah Bananas.

Banana Ball owner Jesse Cole said he was "inspired" by the story of the Clowns, which played as part of the Negro Leagues from 1943-54.
